Ameriie Gets in the Driver's Seat With 'Mustang'
Before the year comes to a close, Ameriie is back with a new track to take us into 2015. The Washington, D.C.-born beauty dropped “Mustang” Monday (Dec. 29), a confident up-tempo record about a dame who can’t be tamed.
“Mustang” marks the first new joint from Ameriie since “What I Want” was released in June. Her vocals glide flawlessly above the beat, giving us hints of Vanity 6 or a Klymaxx with what sounds like a sonic upgrade to classics from the ‘80s. “Many tried but many failed, they don’t understand,” she sings. “Nobody can break her in, she freely roams the land/ Lucky if you catch her once, you’ll never catch her twice/ So take her if you get the chance, just don't trust her eyes.”
It’s been five years since Ameriie’s last studio album, In Love & War, and after years of taking it slow for awhile, the 34-year-old is coming back in a major way. She plans to release two new albums, BILI and Cymatica, and will kick off a four-date mini tour in the U.K. next March.
