"106 & Park" Recap: Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group

Ross visited the show with his new label's roster, which includes Wale and newcomers Meek Mill and Pill.

To build his Maybach Music Group, Rick Ross recruited the hottest rappers that he felt would be ready for the bigger spotlight that his ever-expanding fame provides.
Meek Mill already had a buzz in the music industry before he got the call from Ricky Rozay. He was named one of XXL's Freshman for 2011, a distinction the magazine awards to new rappers with the potential to become stars. Terrence J remembered seeing Meek get a huge reception from an audience during a community service event, before Meek was signed to any record label.
Pill was able to get Rick Ross' attention through his mixtapes, including music he released with DJ Skee and DJ Drama.
Wale feels his pairing with Ross was destiny. They kept bumping into each other at events in Miami. When Ross finally asked him to join the group, Wale was impressed with Ross' views on where Black music is going and with his willingness to allow Wale artistic freedom.

Rick Ross is currently touring with Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj. He's excited that he gets to perform in front of tens of thousands of people each night, and he's seizing the opportunity to introduce his Maybach Music Group to lots of new fans.

Ross' next solo album, Self Made, will be in stores on "Maybach 24th" (that's May 24 for those of you who don't speak Rozay).
