Miguel Says Doing Drugs With His Dad Made It ‘So Much More Fun’

The singer and new father told the Thanks Dad podcast that his dad encouraged him to try substances together so he’d be safe and Miguel later took him up on the offer.

Sing along: Do you like druggggssss? Me too!

Wow, Miguel’s “Do You Like Drugs” track hits different now. The singer recently shared that doing drugs with family changed the experience for him.

The 40-year-old crooner appeared on the podcast “Thanks Dad” with Ego Nwodim and shared that his dad once told him, “Now son, if you ever do decide to do drugs, do them with me.” Miguel said the offer came from a place of care, and he also thought it was very cool of his dad to make that offer.

He continued, “Because then you'll be safe and I can make sure you're okay. I'll tell you everything you want to know about what it may make you feel and how it may make you feel.”

"'But at least I'll be able to see if anything goes wrong, I'll see you through,'" his pops said, affirming that he was in “safe hands.” Miguel said he didn’t try substances then, but he has since taken his dad up on that invitation. “And honestly, I would say it's so much more fun to do anything like your drugs, drinking, whatever, with family,” he told Nwodim.

When Miguel appeared on the “Bootleg Kev” podcast, he shared his experience with psychedelics and said his trips have been “mostly good,” and he prefers having them outdoors. “The best ones are always outside, though...Either by water or in the forest kind of vibe.”

The conversation lands at a time when Miguel is reflecting on fatherhood, as a new father, and the ways family shapes his life. In a recent interview, he said that his uncle pointed out to him that fatherhood has helped him find his smile again. Miguel said, “Hope and faith are different now,” when speaking about his son changing his life. “It just changes the way one walks, on a daily.”

Miguel’s son is only one year old, so it’s very premature for him to offer the same “care” about doing drugs with him, but something tells me this is a legacy he’ll pass on since drugs seems to be a family affair.
