On February 12, the GOP Twitter page tweeted a quote from Abraham Lincoln for his birthday
The only problem was that the quote was fake
The site Quote Investigator believed the quote was most likely first spoken by a medical doctor named Edward J. Stieglitz, quoted in the Chicago Tribune in 1947.
The tweet has since been deleted, but not without people commenting on the irony of the situation
It did not take long for a game to be made out of the embarrassing blunder
Fake quotes from Lincoln were posted all over Twitter
One person tweeted the ultimate response that combined another mishap from the Trump administration
