65th Annual Grammy Awards: 5 Quintessential Songs By Pusha T

The Clipse rapper is nominated for Best Rap Album for ‘It's Almost Dry’.

The 2023 Grammy Awards ceremony is fast-approaching, and in preparation for this year’s big event, we’re getting folks geared up and ready for their favorite artists to take home some hardware.

It’s music that ties everyone together, and sometimes, you just need a little trip down memory lane in remembrance of why those nominated are so talented. For us, it’s just putting together a little tribute to those who get us through the daily grind or are a point of relaxation when chillin’ around the crib or riding around in the whip.

Pusha T is once again up for a Grammy, this time for his highly-anticipated 2022 LP It’s Almost Dry – a favorite amongst fans of incredible bars.

To commemorate, BET.com has compiled five quintessential songs by Pusha T (see below).

  • “Numbers On The Boards” (2013)

In the one of the more unique Kanye West and 88-Keys collaborations on the beat, "Numbers On The Boards" is just straight bars, particularly about how the Virginia Beach rapper is up on the scoreboard and will never relinquish the lead. And he never does.

  • “The Games We Play” (2018)

Considered one of Pusha T's best solo albums, the Kanye West-producer Daytona took fans by storm in 2018. Perhaps the standout on the project is "The Games We Play", a drug-dealing anthem that has Push name-dropping a few people who influenced him during his come-up while also describing that environment.

  • “Drug Dealers Anonymous (feat. Jay Z)” (2016)

An anthem for any hard knock looking for his way in the streets, "Drug Dealers Anonymous" has Pusha and Jay-Z waxing about their history of struggle and survival with autobiographical bars revealing where, how, and why. Separating the verses is a sample of conservative pundit Tomi Lahren , who speaks negatively about Beyoncé’s provocative Super Bowl 50 halftime show, using Jay’s drug dealing past to criticize her.

  • “Grindin’” w/Clipse (2002)

The beat, the bars, the Pharrell adlibs. This is Virginia Beach at its finest and Pusha T's career would look a lot different if this song didn't his like it did over 20 years ago.

  • “King Push” (2013)

The intro to his album, My Name Is My Name, "King Push" has Pusha T rapping about his childhood, come-up in the streets and rap game, what his ambitions are, and the fearless personality he has to get through it all. It's an extremely strong start to one of the Virginia Beach rapper's preeminent albums.
