White Supremacist, Cult Leader And Killer Charles Manson Dies And These People On Twitter Are Really Saying 'RIP'

"Maybe they're confusing him with Marilyn Manson."

Charles Manson — the abhorrent, crazily behaved leader of a murderous 1960s cult — has died and some people seem to have forgotten the atrocities he committed.

Manson died on Sunday in a hospital in Kern County, California, close to where he was jailed. At 83 years old, Manson spent most of his life in prison for leading the notorious "Manson family" on a murderous rampage.

Sharon Tate, an actress who was married to the film director Roman Polanski, was one of Manson's most famous victims. Tate, who was eight months pregnant at the time, was killed with four other people at her California home near Beverly Hills, reported the New York Times.

Additionally, Manson was a white supremacist who joined the Aryan Brotherhood and had a Nazi symbol tattooed on the middle of his forehead while in prison.

  • Despite the fact that Manson was a ruthless criminal, some still offered condolences after news of his passing

  • Even if the people tweeting 'RIP Charles Manson' were trolling, people weren't having it

  • Some wondered if they were accidentally thinking of musician Marilyn Manson

  • Eventually people got so fed up with 'RIP Charles Manson,' it became a meme

  • Although the 'RIP' topic was widely trending, it did not completely take away from other responses to the news
