Quentin Tarantino is staying woke. The director has defended his comments on police brutality after police unions are calling for a boycott his upcoming movie, The Hateful Eight, saying that he won't be intimidated by the tactics.
“Instead of dealing with the incidents of police brutality that those people were bringing up, instead of examining the problem of police brutality in this country, better they single me out," he tells theLos Angeles Times. "And their message is very clear. It’s to shut me down. It’s to discredit me. It is to intimidate me. It is to shut my mouth, and even more important than that, it is to send a message out to any other prominent person that might feel the need to join that side of the argument.”
Meanwhile, TMZ reports that the Los Angeles Police Department, whose union has joined the boycott against Tarantino, will still serve and protect him despite his statements. In fact, just two weeks before Tarantino denounced overzealous cops at an NYC rally, police responded to a trespassing call at his home with haste and helped him remove an unwanted visitor from his property. Word going around the departmet, according to the site, is that the famed director is "an ass but [they] will still respond to calls for service at his home in a professional and timely manner."

Last week in New York, Tarantino attended a rally to bring attention to those who have been killed in police shootings. He said, “I’m a human being with a conscience, and when I see murder I cannot stand by. And I have to the call the murdered the murdered and I have to call the murderers the murderers.” Officers across the country took offense to his remarks, which came just days after an on-duty cop was killed by a man he was pursuing, and decided to retaliate with a boycott of his films.
 
One person who was definitely not afraid to join his side of the argument was Jamie Foxx. At the Hollywood Film Awards this past weekend, Foxx presented the ensemble of The Hateful Eight with an award and defended his Django Unchained director by saying, “keep telling the truth, keep speaking the truth and don't worry about none of the haters.”
