The Soul Train Awards stage has hosted dozens of artists over the years whose performances are still talked about and this year’s ceremony promises to be no different.
Among our many performers scheduled to appear at this year’s musical celebration is none other than gospel legend himself, Fred Hammond. The industry veteran has blessed the ears of music fans for over nearly three decades earning himself several No. 1 hits and even won a Grammy award for “Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album” for his 2006 album Free To Worship

“No Weapons”
This record is arguably one of the most notable songs from Hammond and was released in 1996 off his Spirit of David.
“We’re Blessed”
This song demonstrates Hammond’s knack for taking words from the Bible—in this case Deuteronomy 28—and turning it into a beautiful piece of music.
“You Are The Living Word”
Like many of his other works, Hammond did everything from pen to produce this popular record from his 2000 album Purpose by Design. The album earned him a Grammy nomination for “Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album.”
