Woman’s Racist Tirade on School Bus Sparks Outrage

Samantha Spoor’s confrontation with middle school students, including use of racial slurs, draws condemnation and calls for accountability.

On May 15, 2025, a disturbing incident occurred in Currituck County, North Carolina, when 35-year-old Samantha Spoor boarded a school bus transporting students from Moyock Middle School. According to reports, Spoor confronted the students with profane language and directed a racial slur at Savannah Bailey, a Black eighth-grade student. Another student captured the incident on video and has since gone viral, drawing widespread condemnation.

In the video, Spoor shouts, “Sit the f–k down. Ain’t none of you gonna do f–cking sht. Record it for your motherf–cking mama, I live over here. Send her. F–cking n—-r.”

Witnesses reported that Spoor's outburst was triggered by an alleged incident involving her son, who she claimed had been bullied by other students on the bus.

Following the incident, Spoor was arrested and charged with trespassing, disorderly conduct, and communicating threats. She was released on a $2,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 27.

Savannah Bailey, the student targeted by Spoor's slur, expressed her shock at the encounter, stating that she was raised not to tolerate disrespect but chose not to respond during the incident. Her parents have called for accountability, emphasizing the inappropriateness of an adult directing such language at children.

Currituck County Schools acknowledged the incident, stating that an unauthorized adult had boarded one of their buses and used profane and derogatory language. The district condemned the behavior and indicated that they are reviewing transportation protocols to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

In an interview with local media, Spoor expressed regret over her choice of words but maintained that her actions were motivated by a desire to protect her child. She claimed that her son had been subjected to bullying and that her previous complaints to school officials had not been adequately addressed.

The incident has sparked broader discussions about school safety, parental involvement, and the appropriate channels for addressing concerns about student welfare. As the community grapples with the fallout, many are calling for increased measures to ensure that students are protected from both peer bullying and external threats.
