Kehlani Releases ‘Valentine’s Day (Shameful)’ Single Amid Breakup Rumors With YG

Keh dropped the single, titled “Valentine’s Day (Shameful),” with a special message to fans and a (former) special someone.

Just three days after Kehlani and YG professed their love to each other with their jointly-released Valentine’s Day offering and first-ever collaboration, “Konclusions,” it appears the two have parted ways.

  • On Monday (Feb. 13), Keh shocked fans after she abruptly dropped off a new song, “Valentine’s Day (Shameful),” on SoundCloud early in the morning where she somberly croons along about a regretful relationship. “A lot to say a lot to feel,” she announced on Twitter along with a link to the track on SoundCloud.

This latest development comes after the Oakland-bred singer publicly reunited with the Compton MC amid cheating rumors in December of 2019. The “Go Loko” artist was photographed by TMZ seemingly grabbing and kissing an unidentified woman from the passenger seat of a car. Although Kehlani didn’t name him specifically on the track itself, fans deduced that her words could point to none other than YG.

  • But per her latest release, Kehlani made it clear she won’t put up with the humiliation this time around. Through heartbreakingly honest lyrics, Kehlani reveals that she found out about the infidelity after she checked his phone, following her intuition, where she found evidence of an affair:

Wish I didn’t check your text when you was drunk sleep. I seen everything I ain’t won’t to see, that I needed to see that I needed to be. I hope you live happily ever after with the b**tch,” she sings.

Throughout the nearly five minute-long song, she also calls out exploitation of their coupledom, revealing that she was used for fame despite her loyalty, including helping her love through an addiction. Elsewhere in “Valentine’s Day (Shameful),” she concluded her sentiments that she’s single, sending off her best wishes to him and his mistress.

  • “Last night making ‘Valentine’s Day (Shameful)’...same room / same people I made ‘You Know Wassup’ with. same energy... feel something and get it off,” she wrote on Instagram hours after the release. “[Three] therapeutic hours. Appreciating those who see and hear me, and those around me holding me up. [I’m] real grateful for expression right now. Inward & onward, love always ALL ways.”

Afterward, DMV-raised rapper Rico Nasty, pop singer Halsey, Tory Lanez, Fifth Harmony’s Lauren Jauregui and more showered the 24-year-old with love and support in her comments and mentions across social media.

Fans are also sending her their love and support as well. “My god, Kehlani. This is so beautiful. And so painful,” one fan wrote to her on Twitter. “I’m so grateful you shared and so sorry you’re going through this. You really are a rare talent with a beautiful soul. I love you, girl.”
