Prosecutors Say D4vd Bought Chainsaws and Other Tools After Celeste Rivas’ Death

Newly filed court documents allege the singer used a fake name to buy items including chainsaws, a shovel, and a body bag, as part of an effort to destroy evidence.

New court filings are adding another horrifying layer to the case involving singer D4vd and the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

Prosecutors now allege that after Rivas was killed, the musician — whose real name is David Anthony Burke — bought chainsaws, a shovel, a body bag, and other materials online under a fake name as part of an effort to destroy evidence. According to Reuters, says prosecutors believe the purchases were made after the killing and were tied to what they describe as a cover-up attempt.

The filing also shares that, according to prosecutors, the killing happened in April 2025, when Rivas was 14, and that Burke allegedly dismembered her body in his garage using a chainsaw and other tools. The same court brief said the teen had threatened to expose their relationship, which prosecutors say began when she was 13 and he was 18. Those claims are still allegations, and Burke has pleaded not guilty.

The documents also say Rivas’ remains were later found in Burke’s Tesla near his Hollywood Hills home. Burke was charged with first-degree murder, continuous sexual abuse of a minor, and unlawful mutilation of human remains, while his legal team says they plan to “vigorously defend” his innocence.

The case has been especially disturbing because of the age gap and the timeline prosecutors describe. In the newly filed brief, investigators say they have texts, photos, and other evidence supporting their account, while also claiming Burke tried to cover his tracks with a series of online purchases and trips away from Los Angeles.

For now, the case remains active, with more court proceedings ahead. But the latest filing has already made one thing clear: prosecutors say they believe the lengths Burke allegedly went to after Rivas’ death were calculated, deliberate, and deeply chilling.
