Michelle Obama Awestruck by Team USA in London

First Lady Michelle Obama greets Team USA and leads a Let's Move! event in London.

When First Lady Michelle Obama makes public appearances, the gushing is usually directed toward her. But while in London for the Summer Games, she's the one in absolute "awe" of being in the company of Olympic athletes.
Obama has said more than once that attending the games is something she's dreamt about since she was a child. During a breakfast with members of Team USA, she shared memories of watching the Olympics on television with her formerly athletic father who suffered from multiple sclerosis.
"He retained his love of sports, truly. And the Olympics was a special time for him to watch amazing athletes of all abilities compete on the world stage," she said. "Being here is otherworldly for me. I am still so inspired."
Obama also once upon a time fantasized about competing in the games as a gymnast, ABC News reports.
"But I mean come on, 5’11 with legs, no,” she said, adding that track might have been more realistic.
The first lady brought her Let's Move! initiative across the pond and held an event at the U.S. ambassador's residence on Thursday. Approximately 1,000 children, mostly from U.S. military families based there, participated in a sports fair that included clinics and training sessions, cheered on and led by athletic legends like Carl Lewis, David Beckham and Dikembe Mutombo.
Being the good sport that she is, Obama played a little tug-of-war, soccer and tennis.
