  • Over 40 artists and entertainers attended Franklin’s funeral on Friday morning (August 31). A handful of people also spoke to honor the Queen of Soul who recently passed.

Perhaps one of the headliners was Tyler Perry. He spoke at around 1:15 PM and shared some beautiful thoughts about the legendary singer.

"There's no place in the world that knows how to send somebody home like Detroit, Michigan," he told the crowd. "Aretha is looking down smiling."

The funniest part was when the actor/comedian revealed to the audience that after his infamous movie character Madea was debuted on the big screen, Franklin would call Perry just to hear him play the character over the phone.

  • “I’m grateful to God that we had the fortune to be on this planet at the same time as Aretha Franklin,” Perry said afterward.

This, along with the rest of his eulogy had Twitter laughing.
