Lil Durk Could Get Another Chance at Release in Murder-For-Hire Case

A bond hearing is set for May 8.

Lil Durk could soon have another shot at freedom as he awaits trial in his federal murder-for-hire case.

According to court documents obtained by Complex, the Chicago rapper’s bond hearing is scheduled for next month. A judge will decide whether he can be released from jail before the trial.

Since his October 2024 arrest, Durk’s legal team has been actively fighting for his release or for the charges to be thrown out altogether.

In recent motions filed on April 19, the ”Vanish Mode” emcee’s attorneys argued that the case is mistakenly built on misinformation, including YouTube videos uploaded by fan accounts.

Prosecutors cited lyrics from Durk’s collaboration with BabyFace Ray, “Wonderful Wayne and Jackie Boy,” as alleged proof that he “sought to commercialize” the killing of Quando Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson.

However, Durk maintains that the lyrics were written months before Robinson’s death and have no connection to the incident.

His team also pushed back against claims that a version of the song featuring TMZ footage of the murder was official content.

“The internet users who posted the videos… are apparent ‘fan pages’ maintained by people with no affiliation to Mr. Banks or Only the Family, Inc.,” they wrote in a filing. “It is unfair, misleading, and just flat-out wrong for the government to suggest that Mr. Banks is responsible for these video/audio edits.”

As part of their latest effort, Durk’s attorneys are seeking either to dismiss the indictment or his release on a bond package totaling just over $2 million in cash and real estate.

Durk’s bond hearing is set for May 8.
