Only Famous People Got Their Hands on the Vuitton x Supreme Capsule
Louis Vuitton and Supreme have long had an, ahem, complex relationship. In 2000, Vuitton sued the streetwear brand after Supreme rejiggered the house's classic monogram pattern to have an "S" in place of "LV," which was then printed on skate decks. Fast-forward 17 years, and rumors swirled that LVMH, Vuitton's parent company, is poised to buy Supreme. While that deal never came to fruition, the two brands, once very much at odds, decided to squash the beef and present a much-hyped collaboration that would result in pure Insta-bait items. Many of the products, such as this epi-leather duffle, weren't particularly imaginative or inspired, but the highly coveted items nonetheless quickly became equated to social currency.
Much to hypebeasts' chagrin, Vuitton announced this past week that the pop-up stores that were to sell the capsule are now canceled. This has already created a thriving resale market for the lucky few that were able to acquire pieces from this rare collection. But you know what they say — if it's too good to be true, it probably is!
These stars were able to get their hands on the Vuitton/Supreme collab long before the failed drop and now find themselves in possession of items that have a higher valuation than once thought. Ah, the perks of being a celeb! See all the lucky clothes aficionados below.
