R&B Star Mario Responds to Black Women ‘Hate’ After Showing Off Pregnant Girlfriend
R&B singer Mario has had enough of people coming for him about the mother of his child not being a Black woman. Earlier this year, he shared that his expecting girlfriend Esmerelda Rios is Mexican, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t love Black women.
This week, the ‘Let Me Love You’ singer took to his Instagram stories to shut it all down:
“I’m so tired of the Black women slander in the comments about how I don’t like Black women and how Black women aren’t loved!! If you’re making these comments, I’m convinced YOU have a problem with Black women. Black women are loved and needed!”
Reportedly, many Black women in Mario’s comments are upset about the fact that the mother of his bun in the oven is Mexican. This will be Mario’s first child. In the social post he shared, you can see him laying on his boo’s pregnant belly, beaming with a promise to be the “best dad ever!” This moment of joy and anticipating bringing life into the world was marked with negativity and disappointment in the comments because the woman isn’t Black.
“Katt Williams already told y'all this😂😂😂😂😂😂😂”
“am I surprised? no. do I care about his choice of partner? NOPE! Mario and all of his peers in the industry obviously have a "type"
“I must be one of the few who was not surprised cause I saw this coming for decades…he never gave black love vibez; ever.”
However, for every comment of decided hate, there’s a lot of love and support for Mario and the mother of his child:
“Congratulations, Mario. You’re gonna make an amazing father. May your lady have a healthy pregnancy and safe birth. I’m so happy for you 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰”
“Congratulations Mario!!! I pray you find happiness with this beautiful young lady. God bless. ❤”
“Disappointed in all the racist comments but congratulations on that bundle of joy..”
The feelings are strong to say the least. Many fans feel betrayed because Mario is a Black R&B singer with a primarily Black women fanbase. In a way, many Black women feel beholden to him and feel that relationship should be mutual. Mario singing to Black women for over 20 years and then choosing someone who isn’t a Black women may feel like a slap in the face to Black women. (But not all Black women.)
Mario’s response this week on his IG stories should be the end of this back and forth, but it likely won’t be. He and his girl have a baby on the way; their attention is at capacity. However, the comments are still rolling in and the racial commentary is at an all time high. Congratulations to Mario and his growing family. May they find peace in the midst of this ridiculous storm.
