Eve Says Some Women Rappers Have Longevity, But Not All

The rap icon gets candid about her early experiences in a competitive industry and spotlights the next generation she believes will stand the test of time.

Every now and again, rappers share their opinion on other rappers and whom they feel will reign supreme for a long time. Grammy Award winning rapper, Eve, has recently shared her list.

Appearing on the Jadakiss and Fat Joe podcast, “Joe and Jada,” she tells the fellow hip-hop pioneers that she feels “some” of the younger women rappers have sustainability, but expresses she doesn’t feel it will “be a lot.”

“I think Doechii will be there, I think Cardi has made her way…I love GloRilla, I think Glo will be there. Latto‘s dope.” she shares.

She also spoke about her experience being new in the rap game amongst the women MC’s during her time on Angie Martinez’s podcast, “IRL.” She expressed how the women at the time “weren’t that friendly” to the “Tambourine” artist.

“Women back then, especially for me, in the beginning, they weren’t that friendly to me,” the “Who’s That Girl” artist reflected.

“Because, in the overall industry of it, the execs were pitting us against each other as I was just happy to see everybody. I thought we were going to be this sisterhood and it was not like that.”
