BET Awards 2025: Kevin Hart Brings the Heat in Opening Monologue
Kevin Hart didn’t waste a single second getting into the comedy trenches during his opening monologue at the BET Awards 2025, broadcast live from the Peacock Theater on Monday, June 9. The Emmy-nominated comedian and host came out swinging—shutting down red carpet drama, celebrity scandals, and industry antics with his signature mix of truth and clownery.
“Take your asses home after this,” he said to the roaring crowd. “That’s why we did this on a Monday. People gotta work tomorrow!”
Clearly, Hart wasn’t here for the usual post-show chaos. “We’re learning a lot about people at these afterparties. That’s where things get slippery—literally and figuratively,” he teased, raising eyebrows and laughs in equal measure.
Never one to shy away from a little cultural commentary, Hart also poked fun at the ongoing headlines surrounding celebs, viral yacht videos, and social media spectacle.
“No yachts, no boats. Cardi B, no pink stuff,” he quipped. “What the f--- is going on out there? Everybody's gonna get hit tonight. We’re live, baby!”
The monologue only got more unhinged (in the best way) from there. Hart whipped out his phone and pretended to receive a text. “Oh s---, it’s Kanye,” he joked, pausing for effect. “Yep, he says he’s out front… waiting for someone to let him in.”
That’s when the real punchline landed: “We all saw Sinners. Don’t let his ass in here to fight Playboi Carti again. Not tonight!”
With that, the BET Awards 2025 were officially in full swing—no seat was safe, and no celeb untouched. It was the kind of sharp, fearless comedy that only Kevin Hart could pull off, reminding us why Culture’s Biggest Night never disappoints.
The BET Awards aired live Monday night on BET from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
