'The Blind Side' Star Quinton Aaron Defends Sandra Bullock Amid Michael Oher's Lawsuit Against Tuohy Family

Some critics have called for the actress to return her 2010 Oscar she won for “Best Actress.”

Sandra Bullock has found a pillar of support in her former “The Blind Side” co-star, Quinton Aaron, amid the legal battle between the film’s real-life subject, one-time NFL player Michael Oher and the Tuohy family.

Aaron, who portrayed Oher in the 2009 Academy Award-winning movie, recently voiced his thoughts on the ongoing controversy during an interview with TMZ Sports. He also addressed the reports surrounding critics advocating for Bullock to relinquish her "Best Actress" Oscar she won in 2010 for her role as Leigh Anne Tuohy.

"Saying stuff like she needs to relinquish her title doesn't make any sense," the actor told the outlet. "She gave a brilliant performance and that shouldn't be tarnished for something that had nothing to do with her."

Aaron emphasized the absurdity of the request, "I really feel like we live in a society today where people are so hellbent on pointing blame on people. To make a statement like that doesn't make any sense,” he continued. “Sandra Bullock didn't have anything to do with the real story… I think that people just need to chill out, relax and let the families involved handle whatever is going on."

On Monday, Oher asked a Tennessee court to terminate his legal relationship with the Tuohy family, claiming that he had never been adopted by Sean and Leigh Anne as portrayed in the film.

In his suit, Oher claims that the white couple deceived him by having him sign what he believed to be his adoption papers that were instead conservatorship documents.

Aaron told reporters he “didn’t know what to think” of the shocking new lawsuit. “It's news to me… unfortunately, it's not a good turn of events," he expressed.

The aspiring singer shared, “This movie inspired so many people, changed people's lives, mine included.” Aaron stated that while empathizing with everyone involved, “I’m not taking sides. I love Michael. I love the Tuohy family."
