Kendrick Lamar's Mysterious Instagram Post Is Sending Fans Haywire

Is King Kunta back?

Published March 23, 2017

Kendrick Lamar’s silence amid the trailblazing music releases, tours and projects of his hip-hop counterparts in 2017 has been somewhat unsettling for fans of the Compton-bred rap prodigy. But now that he’s brushed his Instagram clean of every post except one, possibly presaging a new project, K. Dot is mysteriously creeping back on the rap radar.

The minimalistic post is a simple photo of the roman numeral for the number four. Sans a caption or any explanation of its meaning whatsoever, it has already accrued over 200,000 likes and a comment section bursting with every question imaginable. The last we heard of the forthcoming project, the To Pimp a Butterfly rapper said that the album would address major issues of gang-torn communities and incorporate the omnipresence of God.

While there’s no mention of the number four, the most educated guess is that the post represents the soon-to-be arrival of his fourth studio album. But accompanied by no release date, title or surrounding Instagram posts to hint any further about the project, fans are now racking their brains with the unknown return of King Kunta.

See K. Dot's post and the number it's done on his anticipating fanbase below.
