STREAM EXCLUSIVE ORIGINALS

Kanye West's 'The Life of Pablo' Just Made History

The (platinum) Life of Pablo.

Kanye West has been moving quite noticeably under the radar lately, though fans received a subtle hint that they may be getting that “old Kanye” back that everyone’s been asking for.

But even in the midst of his low profile, he’s still scoring high-profile victories, such as with his latest studio project, The Life of Pablo, which just marked history books as the first streaming-only platinum album ever.

Announced by Def Jam Recordings on Twitter, the glorious landmark for TLOP is accompanied by over three billion streams since its release.

After its exclusive February release on the Jay Z-spearheaded Tidal service, two months later it became available to members of other streaming services. The new certification also marks another victory for Yeezy as his eighth album to hit platinum status, joining every studio undertaking released by him that also sits among the RIAA’s elite classification. With regard to more breakthroughs for the album, it is also the first-ever streaming-only project to nab a No. 1 spot on Billboard 200.

Looks like all of the last-minute tweaking before official release for TLOP paid off after all. Congratulations, Yeezy!
