When speculation of a love thing flickering between singer Christina Milian and Spanish Harlem’s hip-hop heavyweight Dave East surfaced, he swiftly shut down the rumors just as quickly as they began.
According to his latest The Breakfast Club appearance, however, there was a little more to the story of their alleged fling after all.
Hitting on several subjects, from working with Drake to a possible modeling gig with Tyra Banks, Dave expanded on one significant hot topic: childhood crushes. He explained that the opportunity to date a celebrity crush from his youth is one of the few things that excites him in the industry. Before he got the chance to name anyone in particular, Angela Yee took care of that for him by calling out Christina’s name.
“Why you bring her up?” he asked with noticeable nonchalance.
After the morning show’s trio of hosts get out their kicks and giggles, Dave said that he did have an eye for Christina since her Love Don’t Cost a Thing and “Dip It Low” days. But, when it comes down to it, he wasn’t down for the publicity and attention of it all.
“I seen where it was going with the blogs,” he said, “I’m like, ‘Nah, we ain’t doing that. We ain’t about to put me in that boat.'”
Charlamagne Tha God then reminded him of his singlehood-declaring tweet, which Dave apparently knows by heart now.
“At this point, you’re not gonna hurt me,” he said when Yee suggested that he posted the tweet out of hurt. “I might be bothered, but it ain’t gonna hurt me. I’ll be [OK]. I’ll get past it.”
Besides, he’s come a long way from sulking in his bedroom in the hood after a breakup to, now, basically having the ladies flocking in numbers to him, he said. Leave it to Charlamagne to keep the hot topics going by asking if she was the only “celebrity pum pum” he’s ever had. Dave responded with a simple, “nah,” but left names out of it (thankfully).
Admittedly, Dave did acknowledge what sparked the gossip in the first place. Photos of the two posted up at the strip club was one thing, but Dave added that he brought her to a Dyckman Basketball Tournament for her first time as well.
“And she bad so I ain’t really mad to get seen with that,” he concluded. “But once I seen what it was doing, I’m like, 'Yo, we really can’t be seen! I got to get discreet and get to hiding.'”
