Fans React To Solange’s Shocking Health Disorder

The singer reportedly cancelled her appearance at AfroPunk to deal with her "complicated diagnosis."

Solange has reportedly cancelled her headlining appearance at AfroPunk South Africa on New Year’s Eve after revealing that she is dealing with a rare and complicated autonomic disorder. The singer penned a heartfelt letter on Instagram on Dec. 27 detailing her illness and expressing her deepest apologies for the late notice.

“The past five months, I have been quietly treating and working through an Autonomic Disorder,” Solange wrote in the letter. “It’s been a journey that hasn’t been easy on me… Sometimes I feel cool, and other times not so cool at all.” The “Cranes in the Sky” artist also stated that doctors have not cleared her to take the “lengthy flight” to South Africa or perform on stage due to the “complicated” diagnosis.

The singer concluded her letter by apologizing to her South African fans for letting them down. “I can’t put into words how saddened and sorry I am that I am unable to perform for you guys this NYE, there is simply no other place I wanted to be than there with my family to bring in 2018 with you,” she added. “But I give you my ABSOLUTE WORD, I will come back with AfroPunk and deliver this performance…. As it is so extremely important to me to connect with the people who have so closely inspired me in so many ways.”

While the details of Solange’s autonomic disorder are unclear, her diagnosis is reportedly a dysfunction in the nervous system, according to Healthline. It can cause a number of symptoms, including dizziness, fainting, hypertension and more. Following Solange’s announcement, many fans expressed mixed emotions on Twitter. Some were upset with the singer for bailing on the concert while others wished her well on her journey to recovery.
