The interview, during which the Run The Jewels rapper calls anti-gun protesters “not woke,” was released on Thursday, but is just now catching the ire of social media.
“I told my kids on the school walkout, I love you, if you walkout that school, walkout my house…we are not a family that jumps on every single thing an ally of ours does because some stuff we just don’t agree with,” he told show host Colion Noir. “We are raising a generation of kids where everyone gets a trophy. But in real life, everyone don’t get a trophy. In real life, the cops don’t come on time. In real life, depending on where you live, you’re not gonna have the time to try to logic your way out of something.”
Mike, a former Bernie Sanders presidential surrogate, is known to make his opinions heard, and usually, #BlackTwitter is behind him. Perhaps it was this comment that got them most heated: “You’re not woke! You can’t continue to be the lackey,” he said during the interview. “You’re a lackey of the progressive movement, because you’ve never disagreed with the people who tell you what to do.”
Here's the flames that ignited his mentions...
Killer Mike endorsing the NRA shouldn't be surprising, he's been rapping like a Russian Bot for the past 5 years with Run The Jewels.— Ahmed/03 Greedo Best Rapper Alive (@big_business_) March 24, 2018

Me: Oh dope, Killer Mike is one of my favorite rappers. Lemme see what's going on.
Twitter: You see the NRA TV video he did?
nra: thanks for being in that video, mike.— Hot Chocolate (@anxiousblackman) March 24, 2018
killer mike: you're welcome. so let's talk about black gun ownership.
I love Killer Mike.Thats my brother. He made some excellent points about Black gun ownership. The problem is, he is talking about it on the NRA platform & the NRA could give LESS THAN A DAMN about protecting Black people's 2nd Amendment rights. One thing on Killer Mike: So, I love him. Always have and always will. I don't mind him not being as enthusiastic about gun control as we are. However, I wish he would not appear in NRA videos. They are using him. The NRA is a death cult that makes money off of dead children.— Jayson Buford (@jaysonbuford) March 24, 2018

killer mike is the reason all of those ppl cling so desperately to their assault rifles in the first place.
a 6' tall, 300 lb black man is PRECISELY the driving force behind white anxiety.
his very existence is EVERY irrational fear made manifest.

Had Killer Mike started his own gun rights group that advocated for black people that would be different. Aligning yourself with the racist NRA let’s me know you only want a check.— Tricky Rikky (@Rik_FIair) March 24, 2018
Killer Mike tried to defend his appearance on NRA TV, which is consuming his full timeline as we speak. Fellow rappers like Vic Mensa even offered to debate him about his stances.
To @KillerMike : YOU DONT NEED AN AR-15. As a black man & fellow gun owner I would like to have a debate with you about your stances on gun-control.— vino valentino (@VicMensa) March 24, 2018
Hundreds of March For Our Lives demonstrations took place all across America today (March 24) to protest gun violence with protesters, activists, and celebrities all coming together for the cause. So much for honoring their fight.
