Kanye West is trying to set the record straight after boldly proclaiming that slavery was a choice during an interview withTMZ Live. The rapper took to Twitter in an attempt to clarify his controversial comments.

According to the rapper, "We are programmed to always talk and fight race issues."

West went on to discuss how he was being attacked for "presenting new ideas" and used two prominent figures to explain who he would be like had he been born during slavery in the U.S.

If there was any questions about whether or not he believed, slaves willingly boarded slave ships, the rapper attempted to clear that up, too.
