RIP: Houston Rap Star Big T Dead At 52

He's best remembered for his appearance on Lil Troy's "Wanna Be a Baller."

The Hip-Hop community is mourning the loss of Houston rapper Big T. Known widely for his catchy hooks, Big T was widely regarded for his appearance onΒ Lil Troy's 1999 hit single, "Wanna Be a Baller. He was 52.

According to the Washington Post, Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences spokeswoman Tricia Bentley confirmed that Big T passed away on Monday (May 7) at a local Houston hospital.

While the investigation into Big T's death is still pending, rapper Mike D from The Screwed Up Click confirmed that T died from a heart attack to the Houston Chronicle.Β 

A drummer by trade, Big T released several albums includingΒ Million Dollar Hooks and Power Move. His success was so profound that he managed to sell 15,000 copies of his debut album based on word of mouth around the Houston area.

Fellow H-Town rap stars Paul Wall, Lil Flip and Slim Thug took to social media paying homage to the Houston legend who was often referred to as the "king of the hooks.
