    R. Kelly's attorney has come forward after Chicago prosecutors indicted the singer on 10 counts of aggravated sexual assault.

Steve Greenberg opened up about the singer's reaction to the charges, as well as his plans going forward.

  2. Greenberg announced R. Kelly's decision to turn himself in during a statement to The Associated Press.

The attorney claimed Kelly is "shell-shocked" by the indictment.

Greenberg says his client is "extraordinarily disappointed and depressed" by the recent charges, and plans to turn himself in to Chicago police officials on Friday (Feb. 22) night.

  3. While the charges may have taken the Pied Piper and his legal team by surprise, Greenberg claims he reached out to the prosecutors before they were filed.

According to the AP, Greenberg willingly offered to explain why the new charges against the singer are "baseless" with the prosecutor's office. Ultimately, they declined his offer.

Per the AP, Greenberg said that his client maintains his innocence and looks forward to an acquittal at trial.

Statements from Steve Greenberg comes hours after a Chicago prosecutor's office filed a 10 count indictment of aggravated criminal sex abuse against the singer.
