XXXTentacion's Mother Posts Screenshot Of Last Phone Call With Him Before He Was Killed

She also announced that a documentary is in the works.

One year ago today (June 18), the life of Miami rap artist XXXTentacion came to a tragic end when the 20-year-old rapper was shot and killed during an armed robbery. Following his death, the whole of the hip-hop community expressed its deepest sorrow and mourning for one of its youngest fallen soldiers.

Within the SoundCloud rap circle, XXXTentacion was a beacon of representation for the new guard going up against the old, established set. For millennials, he was a voice speaking to the societal ills they were experiencing.

  • Amid the very first anniversary of his death, fans, friends and family are flooding social media to pay their respects. Kid Bookie, Yung Simmi and Ski Mask the Slump God posted their own touching messages.

  • But it was his mother, Cleopatra Bernard, with the most heart-rending tribute. On her Instagram, she shared a screenshot of her last phone call she had with X on the same day of his death.

“My hearts forever shattered 6/18/18 last phone call,” his mother wrote with a broken heart emoji.

“We ALL LOVE YOU QUEEN!!” Mally Mall commented under the post.

  • She followed the devastating post with another one revealing that there is a documentary about her son on the way. In the brief clip, XXX addresses fans, opening the clip with a brief but powerful statement.

"This is a story, this is the full story and this is the last time I will tell it," he says in the clip before it ends.

  • XXXTentacion’s career was plagued by an alarming history of violence. The hip-hop community has since remained divided between his supporters and critics. Before his death, XXX (real name Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy) was reportedly working on philanthropic efforts as part of his process in turning a new leaf.
