Pop Smoke Arrested On Federal Charge For Transportation Of Stolen Rolls-Royce
20-year-old rap neophyte Pop Smoke has been hailed as one of hip-hop’s more exciting prospects slated to take the music industry by storm ever since the Brooklyn-bred drill rapper exploded onto the scene with his hit single, “Welcome to the Party.”
Unfortunately, Pop Smoke’s ascent has hit somewhat of a setback due to legal matters. As you’ll recall, Pop was one of the five rap artists cut from the Rolling Loud lineup last year over public safety concerns expressed by the New York Police Department.
According to Complex, Pop Smoke struck a verbal agreement with the owner of a black 2019 Rolls-Royce back in November to use the car in a music video shoot in California. In exchange, the car owner was supposed to be granted special treatment at one of Pop’s upcoming shows as compensation. According to the owner, Pop failed to hold up his end of the bargain.
Pop was supposed to return the vehicle back to the owner the next day, and when he didn’t, the owner tracked the car down to Arizona (via GPS) and reported it as stolen, according to TMZ.
Pop Smoke nor any members from his team has publicly commented on the case.
As it currently stands, the rapper will be arraigned in Brooklyn later this afternoon. We will keep you posted on further updates.
