Prayers are up for the DeBarge family amid reports that Chico DeBarge lost his son, Dontae Anderson-DeBarge. Dontae was 35.
Dontae was allegedly killed last Thursday (April 2) in the Van Nuys area of Los Angeles. Rolling Out reported that he was found by the police bleeding out into the street from multiple wounds. They administered aid in an attempt to resuscitate him but, unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the police report, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that a 35-year-old homeless man was deceased following a stabbing incident. But, the authorities withheld from identifying the victim’s name pending an official statement from the Medical Examiner’s office.
“Per Sgt. Fisher, Van Nuys Area Watch Commander, a homicide occurred at the above location. The victim (M/B/35 yrs) was found with multiple stab wounds,” the LAPD’s statement reads, per Rolling Out. “He was pronounced deceased at the scene by LAFD.”
So far, no suspects have been connected to the incident and it is unknown if his murder was gang-related. The police are actively investigating the stabbing incident.
While the police did not deny nor confirm if Dontae was the alleged victim, some of his family members, friends, and close ones took to social media to mourn his death following reports of the incident, according to Rolling Out.
Chico DeBarge has not publicly addressed his son’s passing.
BET sends it love, prayers and condolences to the DeBarge family amid these tragic circumstances.
