This past weekend, French spoke to Complex over Skype where he addressed his beef with 50 Cent, his sobriety, career and relationship with Dipset. 

Around the 16-minute mark, host Speedy Morman asked him who he could envision himself going up against in a hypothetical Verzuz battle following his recent victory over Tory Lanez. “Honestly, you put someone like Kendrick Lamar next to me on the same stage at a festival. I might outshine him,” French expressed. “Not because I’m a better rapper or whatever it is. It’s just I got more hits. Kendrick Lamar got albums, masterpieces. But if we were put up on a festival stage, I would outshine him because I got more hits.”

It didn’t take long for his claims to make the rounds online where fans swiftly chimed in over his remarks. Once French caught wind of the chatter, the “Pop That” rapper returned to Twitter to defend his catalog. In a series of tweets, he clarified that he meant no disrespect toward Kendrick but stands by his record.

“IF WE JUST TALKING ABOUT ANTHEMS!! ME VS KENDRICK HIT FOR HIT! I BELIEVE I CAN GO NECK TO NECK!! I BEEN MAKING HITS FOR A LONG TIME! IT AIN'T MY FAULT I BELIEVE IN MYSELF,” he wrote. “HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO ANSWER THAT QUESTION ? HOW MANY TIMES I GOTTA PROVE MYSELF BEFORE I GET MINE?”

One person chimed in to point out that Kendrick’s “main focus isn't making hits.” My point exactly! He is a different artist,” French responded.  “I was just sayin I’ll win that part he is gonna win everything else but give me mines lol.”
