Pretty Ricky’s Baby Blue Claims He’s Facing Life In Prison

The singer was indicted last week in a $24 million PPP Loan scheme.

Pretty Ricky singer Baby Blue, whose real name is Diamond Blue Smith,  has given an update on his federal case after his first day in court.

  • On Friday (October 9), Baby Blue posted a photo of himself to Instagram ahead of his court appearance. “Wish me luck. Seeing the judge in 30 mins,” he wrote in the caption.

Shortly after, The Shade Room reposted the picture to their Instagram page. Following his court appearance, Blue gave another update on his legal proceedings.

“Had a good 1st day in court,” he commented on The Shade Room’s post. “Facing Life in prison but #ImInnocent - Everything ain't always what it seems.”

  • He was arrested last week for his alleged role in a $24 million scheme to receive loans intended for coronavirus relief illegally.
Smith was charged in a federal complaint filed by the Department of Justice yesterday. The Love & Hip Hop: Miami cast member was arrested on Monday (Oct. 5) and appeared before a judge in Georgia's Northern District.

According to the federal authorities, Smith used falsified documents to obtain PPP loans of  $426,717 for his company, Throwbackjersey.com LLC, and $708,065 for his other company, Blue Star Records LLC. Additionally, he allegedly bought a Ferrari for $96,000 and other luxury items with the misappropriated funds. The complaint further states that Smith withdrew $271,805 of those proceeds and sought PPP loans on behalf of others in order to receive kickbacks.

  • The Pretty Ricky singer is the latest individual to face federal charges of wire fraud, bank fraud, and conspiracy to commit wire fraud and bank fraud amid the Department of Justice’s takedown of a scheme that allegedly involved 11 others.

The federal authorities claimed that the group submitted at least 90 false applications at banks across the nation to obtain millions of dollars through the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).

According to CBS Sports, NFL player Josh Bellamy was arrested last month in Florida after he obtained more than $1.2 million for his company, Drip Entertainment LLC.
