Summer brings its own set of beauty hurdles so we turned to Tyra Banks for some beauty tips we could all use in the coming months. First off, summer humidity is synonymous with bad hair days, unwanted frizz and flyways. To beat bad hair days, Banks suggests wrapping your hair in the morning and setting it loose before walking out the house for an effortlessly tamed mane.
"A bad, bad hair day, I slick my hair back. I put water on it first, a little oil, a little grease, a little vita-pointe, and then I do it in a twist, twirl it around with a million bobby pins, and then I get the little baby hairs around my edges and slick them down with some brown gel, or clear gel, and then I tie a scarf around it. Then, I get in the shower, put my make-up on, get dressed, and right when I’m about to walk out that door I pull it off, and it looks like that was done on purpose."
Summer heat can also make it harder to put your best face forward with sweat threatening to ruin your makeup. Banks says that if you wear foundation, make sure to powder it very well. "Then, before you leave the house, take a washcloth, wet it, ring it out real hard, and push that washcloth all around your face, and it kind-of absorbs all of the excess powder and it also sets your face really well," she says. "And then throughout the day, don’t keep putting powder on top of a greasy face. Take a tissue first and dab it all over your face, then powder yourself after."
Banks also reminded us that it's important to keep smiling even through the hard times.
"Now, it has been scientifically proven that if you smile when you are having a bad day, there are actual chemicals that go off in your brain and in your body, happy chemicals that trick your brain into thinking something else," Banks says. "So if you are having a depressing moment, or get some bad news or you want to cry, it tricks your mind. And it’s not going to make you go skipping down the street, but it will make that bad feeling a little bit less 'cause of the tricks you are playing."
And isn't a smile one of the best things a woman can wear on her face?
