Mase Explains His Appearance on Wale’s “Slight Work” Remix

Wale surprised hip hop heads everywhere last night when he debuted a remix to his song "Slight Work" featuring verses from both Diddy and Mase. The former Bad Boy brothers had been long estranged, and Mase is more or less retired from rap. In a subsequent interview with Funkmaster Flex, Mase gives credit to French Montana — who is also featured on the remix — for orchestrating his involvement.
“I think it was French, man. A lot of love goes out to French. I don’t know why he was repping me so strong, but he was showing me Harlem love. He ain’t even from Harlem, it’s crazy," said Pastor Mase.

The "Feel So Good" rapper said French and Wale called him while they were recording in a studio in Atlanta.
"I was in Atlanta and then I just came through and they was just blowing so hard in the studio, smoking all loud, I couldn’t even get my verse out, they kept laughing at me,” said the now 36-year-old MC. “I came back the next day and was like, ‘I’m ready now.’ He was like, you ready now? They threw me in the booth. Diddy got on it, everyone else got on it.”
Mase said that neither he nor Diddy planned to collaborate on the song, but there's no bad blood between them.
“Nah, we surprised each other. Diddy, is Diddy. To this day, I tell people I don’t have no issues with him," he said. "I think a lot of times we get put on the other side of each other, just because of history. He’s one of the biggest contributors who ever gave to the church. We’re probably cooler than I thought.”

As for rumors of slow-flow rhyme slinger signing with Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group, it’s all a bunch of crazy gossip as for as M-A-dollar sign-E is concerned.

"[Rico Love] just called and asked me to take a ride with him — I didn't know who was gonna be in the studio," Mase explained. "I got there and everybody was there, and they just said, 'Take a flick.' The next thing I know I got a Maybach chain, I got 20 beats from Kanye [West]. The stories just keep getting crazier."
