AraabMUZIK Shot in Rhode Island

The producer is recovering after robbery attempt.

Producer AraabMUZIK is recovering from being shot during a robbery attempt in Rhode Island Wednesday (May 1). News of the shooting broke online, with many of his friends tweeting about the incident.

His manager, DukeDaGod, posted an Instagram photo of AraabMUZIK in a hospital bed surrounded by friends, before an official announcement was made. The image included the caption "Everyone wish my brother @araabmuzik a healthy & pleasant recovery!!!! #Mvpofthempc #Soblessed."

In a statement to Billboard Thursday (May 2), a rep for the MPC beat master, born Abraham Orellana, confirmed the shooting. "Rumors have begun to circulate and first and foremost, we want to let everyone know that AraabMUZIK is currently alive and well," read the statement. "He was out in his neighborhood last night with friends and unfortunately the victim of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He is recovering now and police are investigating the crime. We appreciate all the concern and fan support and Araab is looking forward to a speedy recovery and returning to the stage as soon as he can."

Rapper Avatar Darko — who recently collaborated with AraabMUZIK on the track "Vampire" —gave further insight, tweeting, "They tried to rob him and he ain't come up off his s--- so they tried to get him outta there! He meant to be here! Foh!"

An affiliate of Cam'Ron's Diplomat crew, AraabMUZIK is skilled with a drum machine. Aside from work with the aforementioned Harlem collective, his production credits include the likes of Busta Rhymes, Jadakiss and more.
