Lupe Fiasco Says Islam Will Conquer the World

Rapper hosts impromptu Twitter Q&A about religion.

Muslim hip hop artist Lupe Fiasco is speaking out about his faith again. This time the religious MC answered fans questions in an impromptu Twitter Q&A on Saturday (Oct. 4). Lupe voiced his opinion on female versus male equality in Islam and also shared his beliefs that Islam is on the road to global acceptance.

Twitter user @Aubi_chon asked the “B---h Bad” rapper if he thought “one day Islam would be the world’s religion and conquer the world,” and Lupe gave him a simple, one-word response, “Yes.”

Lupe also offered his opinion on women’s place in Islam, in America and how they are viewed globally. After an inquisitive follower asked Lupe the “serious question” about women being considered equals to males in Islam, Lupe got political and shot back with: “Depends. Where are women equal anywhere though?” He followed up those comments with a question of his own: “Depends on the women…Is Secular American more advanced morally than say Saudi Arabia?” Lupe asked.

This is not the first time the Chi-Town rapper, known for his political and thought-provoking tracks, has defended his religion or spoke about the challenges of being Muslim in America. In a June interview with Katie Couric, Lupe opened up about trying his best to abstain from smoking and drinking while working in an industry where it is prevalent.

Lupe is preparing to drop his fifth studio album, Testuo & Youth, on Dec. 2.
