RL Finally Met the 'Why You Always Lying' Guy

But it's not what you'd expect.

RL, who is formerly a member of the R&B group Next, was pretty accepting about Nicolas Fraser’s hilarious “Why You Always Lying” video. After the sudden popularity of the song, RL made a hilarious response to it that was posted on DJ Vlad TV. But their recent encounter wasn’t as cordial as we’d hoped for.

Fraser is about to appear on an upcoming episode of MTV’s Uncommon Sense, and that’s where the whole meeting came about.

In the Instagram video captured by Lil Duval, RL looks pretty mad that Fraser stole his song and got famous off it. He’s echoed something similar during an interview on the #YouKnowIGotSoul R&B podcast.

“Vlad asked me to make a video to make light of it and I did it reluctantly because I am going to be honest: I don’t know how I feel about it. You are making a parody of my life’s work. And on one end, I don’t want to be a stickler and, you know, seem like I am bitter or anything. But you are kind of making a parody of something that I really worked hard with. It is something that I continue to get residuals from and you know, it is part of my identity…I promise you, people will send me different languages and like, ‘Did you see this?’ And I’m like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ I try to make light of it but it is getting to the point of overkill.”

Even if there’s some bad blood, let’s hope it’s all just lighthearted jokes.
