Desiigner Continues to Jab at Future, This Time by Mimicking His Meme Game

This mixtape announcement is playing with fire and he knows it.

Published April 8, 2016

For those who have been following Desiigner’s instant rise-to-fame after Kanye West discovered him earlier this year, it’s clear to see the ways in which the Brooklyn rapper has been acting coy.

He has been compared to Future nonstop, which he seems to both welcome (by naming his new song “Pluto,” after Future’s debut album) and be annoyed by (by telling crowds at SXSW to stop comparing him to Future). Even Future himself has been confused. He even had a hilarious reaction in the club when he heard Desiigner’s smash single “Panda” for the first time.

However, in somewhat of an odd (and ballsy) move, Desiigner continued to play with fire — this time by mimicking a meme that Future used to announce a project. In the photo, Desiigner Photoshopped his face on Prince’s 1984 album art for Purple Rain in the same exact fashion as a meme popular among the #FutureHive.

Future has been relatively quiet about the whole thing, but at this rate, if Desiigner continues to make jabs, his elder might have to put him in his place — or at least make a comment.
