In the aftermath of the horrific Waffle House shooting, which killed four people, the man who prevented more bloodshed by disarming the gunman started a fundraiser for the victims. Now, a GoFundMe has been started for the hero’s daughter to go to college.

James Shaw Jr. was among the victims killed that Antioch restaurant chain when he seized an opportunity to wrestle an AR-15 out of the hands of suspect Travis Reinking.

Afterward, Shaw said he did not want to be called a hero and placed the focus on the victims by creating a GoFundMe page for victims Taurean C. Sanderlin, 29, Joe R. Perez, 20, Akila Dasilva, 23, and 21-year-old DeEbony Groves.

As of Wednesday, the page raised over $140,000.

After Shaw’s humble efforts went viral, a New York journalist Yashir Ali was inspired to launch a GoFundMe as a college fund for Shaw's 4-year-old daughter.

  1. "I normally don't get involved directly in these matters, but James' grace has inspired me to start this page and give him the support I feel he deserves," wrote Ali.

  2. On Tuesday, Shaw was also recognized by Tennessee lawmakers in a moving ceremony

Shaw was emotional while being honored at the Tennessee Capitol. When the 29-year-old was introduced, he received a standing ovation.

"You were confronted with the most unspeakable evil imaginable and you acted with the utmost honor, heroism, imaginable," state Rep. Jason Powell told Shaw. "And I want to say, James Shaw Jr., you are my hero and you are Tennessee's hero."

  3. In addition to the money Shaw has raised for the victims, Waffle House has pledged to assist in the funeral expenses of the four victims, according to the Tennessean
