Music At 9-Year-Old Kevin Hart Fan’s Funeral Sparks Debate On What’s Appropriate For The Pulpit

Parents of Saniyah Bell, who died of brain cancer, celebrated her life by having kids dance to YG's "Big Bank."

Earlier this year, Saniyah Bell received an emotional visit from her favorite comedian, Kevin Hart. Bell was diagnosed with DIPG, which is an inoperable form of brain cancer affecting children, and meeting Hart was a dream come true. When Bell recently passed away at the age of 9, her parents orchestrated a vibrant homegoing ceremony to reflect her lively spirit. However, video from the funeral has some people calling the hip-hop dancing in the pulpit inappropriate.

An Instagram video posted by the Shade Room showed children praise dancers giving it their all in the pulpit while "Big Bank" by YG played in the background. While people at the ceremony appeared happy with the performance, people in the comment section sounded off.

In the comment section of the post, which also included a tribute from Kevin Hart, some people criticized the parent's decision to play suggestive music in church.

"I hate this little girl had such ignorant parents R. I. P. Baby girl," commented @parisyourbartender.

"I’m sorry. RIP. But this ain’t it. Not in da damn pulpit. Not even 2chainz would co sign. Da pulpit! Where da preaching n praying happens. The holiest part of da church. I’m not a saint...but come on now. Do this at da repast. To each their own," wrote @sparkle_808.

Although there was some negative comments directed towards the family, there were also a great number of people who defended the way they honored their daughter.

"A funeral is SUPPOSED to be a celebration of life.Again no one can judge how someone decides to celebrate their loved ones life. That's exactly what's wrong with people now.If it was praise dancing it would be ok but because it's hip hop it's a problem..smh.Dancing is dancing," commented @mspalmer_4.

Back in February, Bell was first visited by Hart after the Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl.
