California Senator and Democratic presidential hopeful Kamala Harris has been busy on the campaign trail and made a stop in Las Vegas last Saturday (June 15).
After a speech she gave to supporters, she met two young girls named Maya and Jasmine. As Harris asked them for their names, Maya looked down at the ground. Putting her hand under the girl’s chin, Harris said, “You always keep that head up, you hear me? You always hold that chin up.”
As if the moment couldn’t be more beautiful, Jasmine can be heard telling Harris, “If you don’t make it, I’ll take your place.”
The video was published to Kamala Harris’ Instagram Story on Friday (June 21), but it went viral on Twitter shortly after.

I know this is silly, but I feel like she just bestowed a new level of pride and courage into that girl. Like, we're gonna see that girl running things in 20 years.— Matt Murchison 🇺🇸 😼 (@MattMurchison) June 21, 2019

Maya’s expression completely transforms after Kamala tells her to always hold her chin up. ❤️— Philly Snowflake (@phillysnowflake) June 21, 2019
I love how big sister helped her put her chin up. People just don't get how representation can be everything. To see someone like you, your mom, your auntie, grandma, etc do this type of thing. This one meeting could change the trajectory of their lives in the best way possible.— Leaundra Ross (@LeaundraRoss) June 21, 2019
Apparently your goal for today is to make me cry.— Isa-Lee Wolf (@IsaLeeWolf) June 21, 2019

This is so sweet. Both little girls just got a whole lot more confident, although I’m not sure the older one needs it. 😂❤️— marla singer (@singermarla3) June 21, 2019
