Bill Perkins, a friend of activist Shaun King and an energy trader, is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Joshua Brown’s murderer or murderers.
Brown, who was a key witness in Amber Guyger’s trial over the murder of Bothem Jean, was gunned down after he got out of his car late Friday (October 4).
Perkins took to Twitter just hours ago to explain why he wanted to offer the reward. “Every murder is sad,” he captioned his reposting of Shaun King’s promotion of his reward offer. “The particulars around this specific set of circumstances make it important that everyone learn why this happened irrespective of the outcome. Either way a killer needs to be caught & I wish in every case these resources could be brought to bear for justice.”

Currently, a motive or suspect’s identity is unknown by police.
Perkins, according to his bio, is the CEO of BrisaMax Holdings, a consulting firm based in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
On Friday night (October 4), Joshua Brown, the neighbor of Botham Jean and a key prosecution witness in the murder trial of former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger, was reportedly shot and killed in Dallas.
After shock and sadness, there has been a demand for action and justice. On Twitter, the hashtag #Justice4JoshuaBrown was created as many believe Brown’s murder was connected to Botham’s case, and there are calls for his murder to be investigated outside of the Dallas Police Department.
@DallasPD is illegitimate and there is no way that they should investigate this case. The investigation for the murder of Joshua Brown should be done independent of this incompetent agency. They are suspects. #Justice4JoshuaBrown— Talley: Shea Butter Hottie (@Talleyberrybaby) October 6, 2019
Who is investigating the Dallas Police Department? Who is investigating the FBI? Who is investigating the entire criminal “justice system”? Who is investigating the media?— saira rao (@sairasameerarao) October 6, 2019
Every single institution must be investigated for this lynching and cover up.#Justice4JoshuaBrown
AG Barr needs to stop being Trump’s fixer and put resources into finding who murdered Joshua Brown. #Justice4JoshuaBrown— Vote Dem for the Planet (@Brasilmagic) October 6, 2019
The Dallas PD should not be conducting an investigation in the death of Joshua Brown, when many in the public suspects the department is somehow involved. Dallas PD already has a history of white supremacist officers who racially threaten people #Justice4JoshuaBrown pic.twitter.com/0qKYVdhfXh— Tariq Nasheed 🇺🇸 (@tariqnasheed) October 6, 2019
Others are reflecting on how Amber Guyger’s grief and tears during her sentencing could be weaponized by a potential suspect.
Stop hugging white supremacists!— BlackVoice4u (@BlackVoice4u) October 6, 2019
We're forgiving people who are actively at war with us
We're giving hugs & they haven't even stopped killing us yet
It disgusting. We need justice & an end to white supremacy. We don't need hugs & forgiveness#Justice4JoshuaBrown #NoForgiveness https://t.co/fhJ6KlBCjt
Can we please stop hugging murderers now? #Justice4JoshuaBrown— WhereIsMyBlueCheckMark,Jack (@eiralaVpr7) October 6, 2019
Lee Merritt, the family attorney for Botham Jean, has also provided some details about Joshua Brown’s death. See below:
I just spoke with Joshua Browns mother. She is devastated. We all are. Joshua Brown was key witness in the murder of Botham Jean that helped put Amber Guyger away. We need answers. pic.twitter.com/5BCdkVXoQ4— S. Lee Merritt, Esq. (@MeritLaw) October 5, 2019
Joshua Brown was shot in his mouth & chest. He was exiting his car at his apt when he was ambushed & shot at close range. His mother asked my office to help find out who murdered her son. She suspects foul play. He had no known enemies. He worked for a living. We need answers. pic.twitter.com/k0KizSLMHi— S. Lee Merritt, Esq. (@MeritLaw) October 5, 2019
Where #JoshuaBrown was shot seems to be disputed. I was told by immediate family that the ME said mouth and chest. Initially I was told in the back. I just heard from a witness who provided aide to a wound in the buttocks and side. We will have to await the autopsy to be sure. pic.twitter.com/xjqxQ8QanF— S. Lee Merritt, Esq. Figuring out what happened to Joshua Brown will take something we just haven’t mastered yet: Unity. pic.twitter.com/DvsC1BA2hN— S. Lee Merritt, Esq. (@MeritLaw) October 6, 2019
Brown was reportedly found shot multiple times when officers arrived on the scene around 10:30 p.m. According to the Dallas Morning News, “several witnesses flagged down police and directed them to Brown's location. Police found him on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.”
No suspect has been identified. We will keep you updated on any new details surrounding the tragic alleged murder.

#Justice4JoshuaBrown -- we can't rest until his killer is found. Botham Jean was eating ice cream on his couch & Joshua Brown defended his right to be living. These men were just living their lives & they were stolen from them out of hatred, racism, & a disgusting police culture https://t.co/O0TOd4jDeW— Aveline (@avelinewrites) October 6, 2019

This brother was murdered in the most hateful way. To the mouth and chest; meaning to shut him up (mouth) and leave him for dead (chest). These type of assassinations aren’t coincidental. #Justice4JoshuaBrown https://t.co/XpOcMGdgiY— Leila♥️ (@26_leilaaa) October 6, 2019
