Sen. Kamala Harris has been chosen as Joe Biden’s running mate. She is the first Black woman, Indian-American and HBCU alumni to be chosen as a vice presidential candidate.
Biden tweeted out, “I have the great honor to announce that I’ve picked @KamalaHarris — a fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the country’s finest public servants — as my running mate.”

While Harris is the first Black woman to receive the Democratic nomination, the legendary Shirley Chisholm was the first Black candidate to run for a major party’s nomination for President of the United States and the first woman to run for the Demorcatic nomination.
