Report: Jameis Winston Allegedly Involved in Point Shaving

Quarterback accused of tanking game last month to help friend win $5,000 bet.

An explosive report points to Jameis Winston allegedly being involved in a point shaving scandal.

According to TMZ Sports, the Heisman Trophy winner and Florida State University's star quarterback purposely tanked the first half of the Seminoles-Louisville game on October 30 to help his former high school football teammate win a $,5000 bet. The website says Chris Rabb, Winston's friend, had bet on Louisville to go into halftime with a lead and it did just that, carrying a 21-7 edge into the second half, before Winston rallied the Seminoles to the win.

Obviously, point shaving is illegal and can carry prison time if convicted. Already an FBI source has told TMZ Sports: "We are the agency that would investigate these claims. I can neither confirm nor deny that we are investigating allegations of point shaving."

If this report pans out to be true, Winston would not only have further entangled himself in serious trouble, but also damaged his potential to be a first-round pick in the NFL Draft. Earlier Friday, ESPN reported about Winston's lawyer seeking a delay to his client's student conduct code hearing, which was scheduled for the week of November 17. The hearing revolves around Winston's alleged involvement in a sexual assault in December 2012.
