The Messy Betrayals That Led to Derek Fisher Getting Fired

Of course, Monday's news was met by trolling from Matt Barnes.

Should we really be surprised by this?

ESPN and multiple media outlets are reporting the New York Knicks have fired head coach Derek Fisher.

Hey... and he has more than earned his pink slip.

Fisher led the Knicks to a franchise-worst 17-65 last season, which was his first year as a head coach in the NBA. He has followed that with a 23-31 record, which includes the Knicks having lost nine of their past 10 games, this season.

Making matters worse was the off-the-court situation last October, between him and former teammate Matt Barnes, who reportedly attacked Fisher for dating his estranged wife, Gloria Govan, in his former home.

The incident put a dark cloud over Fisher's coaching and triggered questions about his character, which he never seemed to fully address. Messy. Just messy, D. Fish!

Of course, it didn't take Barnes long to troll his former friend turned enemy on Instagram, upon learning the news of Fisher's firing Monday.

Perhaps ESPN's Cari Champion summed it up best.

And already, there are suitors, looking to get the keys to Madison Square Garden in becoming the new Knicks head coach.

Better luck next time, Derek.
