It was as gruesome of an injury that you'll ever see in sports. During the first quarter of the Boston Celtics-Cleveland Cavaliers' game last night, forward Gordon Hayward went up for an alley-oop, bumped bodies with LeBron James and fell awkwardly, fracturing his left tibia and dislocating his left ankle just minutes into his debut with the Celtics.
The horrific, season-ending injury sent a hush over the crowd at Quicken Loans Arena in The Land, with several NBA players taking to their Twitter and Instagram accounts to express their thoughts and prayers to Hayward.
Terrible. Just ... terrible.
Thoughts and prayers to Gordon Hayward, indeed.
Shaking our heads.
Yes! That last part.
Let's hope he does just that.
Prayers up, indeed.
That's coming from someone who's battle-tested, tried and true.
Not on DeMar's watch.
Each NFL superstar can relate, too, having each suffered season-ending fractures.
Incredible words of wisdom from the Black Mamba. We hope Gordon Hayward makes a full recovery.
