R&B Divas: Destiny Child Founding Member Lands TV Series Role About Don Cornelius' Life
Love, peace and...vocals!
Earlier this year BET announced that the network would take on presenting an "unflinching look at [Don Cornelius], his Soul Train dancers, crew and musicians in an unforgiving Hollywood in the 1970’s – how they work, play, rise and fall against the backdrop of Soul Train," entitled American Soul.
A few weeks ago the grade A cast for the series (consisting of both newbies and vets) was revealed, which included Power graduate and bonafide #MCM Sinqua Walls playing a young Cornelius.
Now we've found out that two very powerful vocalists will join the cast.
Kelly Rowland will take on the role of iconic soulstress Gladys Knight - an instrumental musician during Soul Train's infancy. Kelly Price will be a series regular, playing the role of Brianne Clark - "the wise yet cautious head of the Clarke family whose children Simone and Kendall are rising stars in Los Angeles," via Billboard.
While both singers have teased us with their voices in the past few years; it'll be a treat to listen to them riff, run and revive our souls as they also get flex their acting muscles.
American Soul premieres at the top of 2019 only on BET.
