Today, it was announced that Jasmine Tookes, currently one of two black “Angels” under contract with Victoria’s Secret, will get to rock this year's $3 million fantasy bra. The fantasy bra has a 16-year history of blinging out the boobs of just one lucky Angel a year. For 2016, the stunner weighs in at a whopping 450 carats and took 700 hours to make.
Jewelry designer Eddie Borgo put his signature edgy spin on the design, using his trademark conical diamonds on the construction of the bra. It finally made its debut this morning with three armed guards, dozens of cameras and one very happy Angel in tow.
The California native was at the new Victoria’s Secret flagship to talk about this very exciting honor.
“It is such a huge honor and today I finally get to let the world know! I have been keeping it a secret for like five months now." That’s a long ass time to sit on this secret. I tell Jasmine that I can’t believe she didn’t crack but, of course, Jasmine is an angel. “The first person I told was my mom and my grandma and that was it because it’s a secret. Luckily some of my best friends were at the shoot with me when I found out so they had to keep it a secret too and I didn’t want the news to get out so I kept my mouth really shut.”
Her phone, which is off to the side with her mom and best friend, is literally blowing up. “I don’t have it but I’m sure when I get it, it’s going to be like ‘Congrats!’ I never though this would happen to me. My dream was to always walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and be an Angel but never did I think I would wear the fantasy bra. I still cannot believe it.”
If I had a spare $3 milli, I know I wouldn’t get a bra, so I am curious to know what Jasmine would get for the same amount that will be covering her nips on the VS Runway. “Oh that’s hard,” she starts. “I don’t know. I would probably give some to charity.” Ugh, see what I mean? Angel. You have to get something for yourself I tell her. “OK, a nice house. I’m a Cali girl so probably in California.”
I should mention that today, at 11 a.m., Jasmine is in a sheer, floor-length gold-sequined gown with sheer cutout panels. Casual. I ask her about the look. “It is very beautiful and I wanted to be just as sparkly as the bra. When I got dressed, I was like, 'Oh my God, I feel like I’m going to the Oscars or something. I wish I could wear it all day but I think I have to change.”
And the bra goes back into a safe.
But don’t worry for Jasmine, this is still a story with a happy ending. You can catch Jasmine and all the other Angels in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which airs on December 5 on CBS.
