EXCLUSIVE: Draya Michele Uses No Heat on Hair and Just Tinted Moisturizer for BET Awards Red Carpet Look

The dress was designer, though.

Draya Michele is known for her previous stint on Basketball Wives LA, her extremely successful swimsuit line, Mint Swim, and her banging body. Now, changing the direction in her career, the Wilhelmina model is getting a lot more attention since she posted on Instagram, "I want people to see my skin and hair," along with a fresh-faced image of her look at the BET Awards '17.

And it was flawless.

Did you see Draya at BET Awards '17? We sure took note at how flawless she looked with her natural hair and little to no makeup. So we had to ask, what inspired it all?

"I have a new found love for ruffles on clothing since attending the film festival in Cannes, France. Natural hair and makeup just seems like the best choice with the dresses I've been wearing," shares Draya exclusively with BET.com.

Why the natural look was an important statement to make:

"I just wanted to feel like myself and also be comfortable at such a big event, around other beautiful people. People plan what they are going to wear to the BET Awards for months. What look is going to make them stand out? I wasn't worried about standing out this time. I was determined to stay true to myself while also sticking to the high end, free-flowing ruffle fashion story I've been telling."

The responses she's gotten since posting on Instagram about her natural beauty:

"Of course the people who already support me loved it. It was overlooked by the press in my opinion, but hey, I wasn't in a costume. I'm changing directions in my career and that causes for lifestyle changes, which include fashion choices. I'm not worried about being sexy anymore. People already know that. Luckily for me, I have a flourishing swimsuit line. I can wear a bikini at any time and still shut it down.

"As far as the dress that I wore, originally it was designed with a very high thigh slit, which we decided to close because everyone agreed that the cleavage was enough provocativeness for the evening. See, years ago I would've wanted to show it all — my thigh, a little bit of navel and cleavage — and I'm just not there in life anymore."

Thoughts on natural beauty in a day of filters, contouring and extensions:

"Don't get me wrong. I love filters, makeup and weave still and nothing's wrong with anyone wearing it. I'm just starting to feel more confident when I'm complimented on my complexion rather than my highlight and contour. Achieving naturally glowing skin with a radiant, makeup-free highlight is now GOALS. I just wanna love the skin I'm in."

YES, DRAYA!

We spoke with Jihan Lewis, the Northridge, California hairstylist behind Draya's BET Awards '17 natural hairstyle, and got the step-by-step on how to get the perfect heatless 'do for you:

"To achieve this look, start with freshly washed hair. Put a nickel-size [portion] of Kera Care Clear Protein Gel and spread thoughout the hair evenly. Spray with water to wet more. Use a Dry Bar diffuser to dry hair upside-down for volume. Put hair in a loose ponytail and make loose Bantu knots. Finish with Alterna Haircare Top Coat Shine Spray to create this loose updo."

We are in love with this this natural movement and hairstyle just in time for summer. We hope that Draya continues to let her natural beauty shine. Thoughts?
