Kim Kardashian Puts The Woman She Freed From Prison In Commercial For New Shapewear Line, SKIMS

Her latest campaign includes former prisoner Alice Marie Johnson.

Looks like Kim Kardashian West is showing some true girl power when it comes to her shapewear, Skims.

ICYMI: The reality star caught a lot of major slack when she first decided to name her shapewear “Kimono.” People were very irate, and Kim was accused of cultural appropriation, which is not new to the mother of four.

Kim acknowledged that the name was not a good look in an interview with WSJ Magazine last month, and she pulled all things “Kimono” before coming up with an alternative, which is now known as Skims Solutionwear.

“My fans and followers are a huge inspiration to me – I’m always listening to their feedback and opinions,” Kim captioned her Instagram post. “[I] am so grateful they shared their ideas for a new brand name. After much thought and consideration, I’m excited to announce the launch of @SKIMS Solutionwear™.

What has her fans equally impressed with her campaign is that she included Alice Marie Johnson, the woman from Memphis, Tennessee, that Mrs. West helped get released from prison.

In the video posted to the Skims’ Instagram, the lovely woman is seen wearing a Sculpting Bodysuit Mid Thigh in Onyx as she tells her real story.

“I was serving a life plus 25-year sentence without the possibility of parole,” Ms. Johnson shares. “Kim saw a video of me, she heard my story and said, ‘this is so unfair’. And by the way, I didn’t even know who she was. She went to war for me.”

She referred to Kim as her “War Angel” because the reality star and philanthropist went to war for her. “ Nothing stood between her (Kim) and my freedom.”

Alice was released from prison on Jun 6, 2018, and now she now admits to seeing life as precious. “Waking up in the morning and not having a bunk bed over my head is precious to me.”

We can all learn from Ms. Johnson the value of freedom and why we must also see life as something precious.

The underclothing will be available for purchase coming September 10.

According to the social media darling, the pieces will be all-inclusive with pieces that are closest to the skin and made of amazingly soft and supportive fabrics that accentuate the best parts of the bodies.

The Solutionwear will be available in sizes XXS - 5XL
